Crime and Public Safety

Peoplestown Revitalization Corporation recognizes the multidimensional and complex nature of poverty and criminality in relationship to neighborhood revitalization. This program introduces aggressive activities aimed at establishing a resident driven foundation for reducing crime, improving neighborhood security, and inspiring a greater sense of safety in the community. Attaining these objectives is of a critical and timely nature as PRC reaches key revitalization milestones. The program, which has evolved from nearly five years of meaningful planning and discussion, embraces four components.

1. Community education and organization.

Establishing forums for defining the role and scope of resident responsibility. The crime & safety committee meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month. residents and business owners with concerns regarding suspected criminal activity or safety of live issues should plan to bring them before this board. the board provides updates to the community through the neighborhood meetings held the 2nd Saturday of each month at the McDevitt Youth Center.

2. Linkage with the Atlanta Police Department

(Zone 3)

Creating viable problem solving partnership that is designed to identify, manage and seek to eliminate chronic problems of crime and disorder.
