Crime and Public Safety

Peoplestown Revitalization Corporation recognizes the multidimensional and complex nature of poverty and criminality in relationship to neighborhood revitalization. This program introduces aggressive activities aimed at establishing a resident driven foundation for reducing crime, improving neighborhood security, and inspiring a greater sense of safety in the community. Attaining these objectives is of a critical and timely nature as PRC reaches key revitalization milestones. The program, which has evolved from nearly five years of meaningful planning.

PRC has established the crime and safety  committee which consists of Peoplestown residents that serves as an avenue for the residents to have the opportunity to take responsibility for the safety of the neighborhood as well as the chance to interact with key members from code enforcement, sanitation and local police on a more intimate level. The committee  was designed to foster community input to address concerns and issues of neighborhood residents.  This committee meets on a regular monthly basis with  along with residents of the community.

Community Development

The Community Redevelopment Board (CRB) was setup to have enforcement of the Community Redevelopment Plan which was signed into legislation by the city council in 1995. The 15 year plan identifies permitted uses of land within the Peoplestown Community. PRC provides staff support to the Community Redevelopment Board.

Youth Advisory Board

PRC incorporated the Peoplestown Youth and Family Development Plan several years ago to give the youth a voice in planning and implementation of youth related activities. It would also provide for direct contact with the PRC board of directors having a voice within the body. The YAB is critical to the success of the Youth on The Move (YOM) program.
